The season finale of Like My Coffee: Cream of the Crop, an improvised comedy game show where performers create one-liner jokes from audience suggestions.
Meat Fish Produce Comedy brings the season finale of Like My Coffee: Cream of the Crop to The Hashtag Comedy Club on Sunday, October 18. It's the closing night of the third season of Like My Coffee, which they bill as Columbus's best raunchy comedy game show.
The format is simple enough to follow even if you've never seen it before. Nine of central Ohio's funniest improvisers, comedians, and performers go head-to-head, each coming up with one-liner jokes built from audience suggestions. Every joke follows the same structure: "I like my lovers like I like my blank." The host, J.D. Lowe, gauges the audience's reaction and scores them on the fly, so the crowd basically decides who wins. It's an improv show in the truest sense—the whole thing depends on what the room throws at the stage.
The club itself is run by The Hashtag Comedy Company, which has been bringing comedy entertainment, education, and experiences to Columbus for over a decade. Their Hashtag Comedy Improv Show has served as an anchor since it started more than 13 years ago, and the club continues to program a wide range of improv, stand-up, and sketch shows. They also offer improv classes for all levels, so if you're the kind of person who'd rather be on the stage than in the audience, that's something to keep in mind.
