Penn & Beech Candle Co. and Wine on High are teaming up for Lights & Flights, a candle-pouring and wine-tasting night in the Short North on Wednesday, October 21. It's part of a monthly series that runs the third Wednesday of every month, so if you can't make this one, there's another chance coming up soon.
The night starts at Penn & Beech, where you pour your own custom candle. You'll have a Scent Expert to help you navigate more than 100 fragrances, guiding you to blend oils that actually work together rather than just guessing. Once you've got your scent, you design your own label. While your candle cures, the group heads a few doors north to Wine on High for a flight of wines. You get to sip and socialize while your candle sets, then head back to pick it up.
Penn & Beech makes hand-poured soy blend wax candles—natural soy wax, cotton paper wicks, and premium oils—which they say burn cleanly and evenly. They often partner with other local businesses to host one-off events across their Indianapolis and Columbus markets. Wine on High is an award-winning, locally owned retail wine shop and bar in the heart of the Short North; they also run a Wine Club and a daily 'Girl Dinner' of salad, fries, and a glass of wine for $21.

Tickets are $40, which covers both your custom 8 oz candle and your wine flight. There are three session times to choose from: 5 PM, 5:45 PM, and 6:30 PM. Penn & Beech is at 737 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43215.
