Indie-pop artist Kaki Tzagournis plays live at Rumba Café for her Mini Midwest Tour.
Kaki Tzagournis plays Rumba Café on Tuesday, October 20, as part of her Mini Midwest Tour. It's an indie-pop set, and for Tzagournis, it's a return to a room she knows well—this is her fifth show at Rumba.
There's a local connection here that goes back a few years. Tzagournis graduated from Ohio State in 2018 with a degree in marketing, and from there she moved to Nashville to focus on her songwriting. While she was there, she worked her way through the city's 'Writer's Rounds,' the kind of songwriting circles where artists play their new material for other writers and refine it on the fly. She's been playing guitar since fourth grade—her first one came from both of her grandfathers—and she grew up as an early Taylor Swift fan.
These days she's based in Los Angeles and works with producer and guitarist Timothy Brown. Her lyrics are described as coming from the soul, and they've built her a dedicated following, including Ohio State graduate Lauren Hackenberg, who runs an Instagram account to promote her music. The set on Tuesday will be her performing live, with the indie-pop sound she's been developing since those Nashville rounds.
