Annual series of classic Alfred Hitchcock suspense films screened throughout October at the Gateway Film Center, mostly on 35mm film.
Gateway Film Center is bringing back Hitchcocktober throughout October, filling the month with classic suspense films by Alfred Hitchcock as a lead-up to Halloween. It's an annual series, and the scale is pretty wide: around 18 different Hitchcock titles screen across the month, with most of them running on 35mm film. If you're a fan of the master of suspense, it's a good excuse to spend a few nights in a dark theater watching his work on the big screen rather than at home.
The screenings run daily throughout October, so you can drop in for one movie or keep coming back for more. The films are mostly projected on 35mm, which is how they were meant to be seenβthe grain and the flicker that a digital print just doesn't have. Since the titles change throughout the month, you can pick and choose the ones you've always wanted to see or revisit the ones you know by heart.
Gateway is at 1550 North High Street, and if you're planning on catching more than one, they have a membership program called myGFC for $14.95 a month. It gets you into all their regular presentations, plus free popcorn and invites to their events. If you're driving in, there's easy parking in the garage right next to the cinema on 9th and 11th avenues.

Keep in mind that the full schedule for this year hasn't been officially confirmed yet, so you'll want to check in closer to the date to see exactly which titles are playing and when. Once the calendar is out, you can map out your October around the films you don't want to miss.
