All-ages Halloween cover show in which local acts play entire albums by R.E.M., Radiohead, Björk and The Replacements, with proceeds to WCBE.
Rumba Cafe hosts the second installment of Celebrity Etc's Halloween Cover Shows for WCBE on Sunday, October 25. It's part of a WCBE Happy Hour series where local acts take on entire albums by other artists, and this one brings together four different bands in one afternoon.
REM-nants are covering R.E.M., FreeTVs take on Radiohead, Izöra Patriksdottir does Björk, and The Secret Life of Houseplants cover The Replacements. That's four distinct catalogs—college rock, art rock, avant-pop, and heartland punk—all in one bill. Since each act is working through a full album, you get a good stretch of each artist's catalog rather than just a handful of their most well-known songs.
There's a charitable side to the night, too: all proceeds go to WCBE, the city's community radio station. It's an all-ages show, so it's as easy to bring the kids as it is to come on your own. If you've spent any time listening to the station, this is a chance to see local musicians paying tribute to some of the records that have probably spun through its studios.

Doors open at 3:30 PM, and the music starts at 4 PM, so it's a late-afternoon affair that wraps up well before the night gets late. Tickets are $12, and the show is at Rumba Cafe, 2507 Summit St.
