Halloween tribute night of cover bands playing R.E.M., Radiohead, Björk and The Replacements, with all proceeds donated to WCBE.
Rumba Cafe hosts the second installment of the Halloween Cover Shows for WCBE on Saturday, October 24, with a lineup of four bands each taking on a different classic act. The night is presented by Celebrity Etc., and all proceeds go to WCBE, the city's public radio station. It's an all-ages show, so you can bring whoever you want.
The billed lineup has REM-nants playing R.E.M., FreeTVs playing Radiohead, Izöra Patriksdottir playing Björk, and The Secret Life of Houseplants playing The Replacements. That's four distinct catalogs in one night—college rock, art rock, avant-pop, and power pop—so the setlist should shift gears quite a bit as the evening goes on. Just a heads-up: the lineup hasn't been officially confirmed for this specific edition yet, so keep that in mind before you set your heart on one particular band.
The Halloween Cover Shows are part of a series of tribute nights Celebrity Etc. has been putting on at Rumba, and the whole thing is a fundraiser for WCBE. The format is the same for each night: several bands each billing themselves as a different classic act, with the proceeds going to the station. Since it's all ages, it's as much a family outing as a night out with friends.
