A second annual event combining a fundraising walk with a free dog festival featuring adoptable dogs, local rescues, a market, dog demonstrations and a Kids Zone.
Buckeye Paws is bringing back Gigi's Walkin' the Dog to Columbus Commons on Saturday, October 24, from 11 AM to 5 PM. It's the second annual edition of the event, which combines a fundraising walk with a free dog festival. The festival part is open to everyone, so you can hang out without having to sign up for the walk if that's more your speed.
Throughout the day, the Commons fills with adoptable dogs and local rescues, a market, dog demonstrations, and a Kids Zone. The walk itself kicks off at 1 PM, with a choice between a one-mile or two-mile route. If you're coming with your own dog, it's a good excuse to get them out of the house; if you're just looking for a new one, the adoptable dogs are right there on site. The Kids Zone means it works for families, too, so you don't have to leave the little ones at home.
It's worth keeping in mind where this all happens. Columbus Commons is the summer home of the Columbus Symphony and hosts their annual outdoor concert series, Picnic with the Pops, so it's a spot that usually sees a lot of music. On this day, though, the focus is on the dogs.
