Concert by Genitorturers, the hard rock and industrial metal band from Tampa, Florida, with support from Nathan James.
Genitorturers play The King of Clubs on Wednesday, October 28, with Nathan James opening. They're coming in from Tampa, Florida, where they've spent years as agents provocateur of the underground hard rock and industrial metal scenes. If you're not familiar, that's a fair way to describe them—they've always sat right at the intersection of heavy riffs and industrial noise.
One of the records that helps pin down their sound is Blackheart Revolution, their fifth studio album, which came out in 2009. It was co-produced by David 'Evil D' Vincent of Morbid Angel and Scott Humphrey, who has worked with Motley Crue, Rob Zombie and Ozzy Osbourne. The lead single, "Cum Junkie," was released as a digital track and as a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl. Frontwoman Gen signed the record to I.R.S. Records, the label run by music industry magnate Miles Copeland, who also signed Gary Numan, The Go-Gos and R.E.M.
That's a good bit of context for where they fit in. The industrial metal side of things comes through in the heavy, mechanical drive of the music, while the hard rock side keeps it grounded in a way that works in a live room. With Nathan James on the bill, you've got a full night of it.
