Hands-on glass art workshop led by local artist Meg Beech to design and fuse a glass plant stake for indoor potted plants.
Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is hosting a fused glass workshop on Saturday, November 14, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Local artist Meg Beech leads the session, where you'll layer and design a vibrant glass plant stake for your indoor potted plants. It's a hands-on class: Beech walks the group through cutting the glass, composing the design, and stacking the pieces that will eventually fuse together. All the supplies are included, so you just need to show up.
Beech brings a lot of experience to the table. She holds a BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design and has been teaching art for more than 30 years. For about 14 of those, she also worked as a yoga instructor, so she's used to guiding people through a process. The session is open to ages 10 and over, with adult supervision required for the younger participants.

One thing to keep in mind is how the glass actually gets finished. You do the designing and stacking in the workshop, but Beech takes the pieces back to fire them in the kiln herself. You can pick up your finished work at the Conservatory front desk a few days later, or have it shipped for an additional cost. The class runs from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Wells Barn, and it costs $90, or $80 for members.
