Free monthly program in which author Will McLean Greeley presents his biography of Senator George P. McLean and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
Will McLean Greeley is coming to the Grange Insurance Audubon Center on Tuesday, October 27, for the Columbus Audubon October monthly program. He's an author presenting his biography of Senator George P. McLean, Birdman of the Senate: Senator George P. McLean and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The book focuses on McLean's role in the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, so it's a look at the intersection of early 20th-century politics and bird conservation.
There's a second part to the evening: a conservation spotlight by Alexandria Horne. Between Greeley's talk on the Senator and Horne's spotlight, the night covers both the history of bird protection and current conservation work. The whole thing is part of the 2026-2027 free in-person Monthly Program series at the center, which runs throughout the year.
The evening starts at 6:30 PM, and the first half hour is for refreshments, a bird quiz, and a door prize raffle. The speakers take over at 7 PM, and the raffle winners are announced at 8 PM. If you can't make it in person, there's a virtual option via Google Meet, and registration is handled through the Audubon tickets page.
