Bradley Mellen Jazz String Quartet

The Bradley Mellen Jazz String Quartet plays at Ginger Rabbit Jazz Lounge on Thursday, October 29. It's a jazz concert, just the quartet on the bill.

If you haven't been, Ginger Rabbit Jazz Lounge is a cocktail and jazz lounge in the Short North at 17 Buttles Avenue, with small plates, live music and a speakeasy entrance tucked between N High St. and N Wall St. It's the kind of spot that works as well for a drink and a few bites as it does for sitting in and listening to a full set.

One of the names in the quartet is Hans Sutter, a master sitar player and guitarist who describes himself as a maverick musician at home in jazz, rock, funk, R&B, electronic and Middle Eastern music. He's also a disciple of Ustad Shujaat Khan, so that sitar background is a real part of what he brings to the stage. Hearing that kind of range inside a jazz string quartet is a good reason to make the trip.

The show runs from 6 AM to 7:30 AM, and tickets are $10.
