A string quartet plays 90s rock hits by candlelight at the Columbus Museum of Art.
Candlelight: 90s Unplugged comes to the Columbus Museum of Art on Sunday, November 22, with the Listeso String Quartet taking the stage. It's a 60-minute show produced by Fever, and the whole thing is set up around a single idea: taking some of the biggest rock songs of the 1990s and reworking them for a string quartet in a room lit by candlelight. Fever's founder has talked about the 90s having a massive resurgence lately, with the era's fashion, films, and music finding their way back to stages, and this is their take on that trend.
The setlist pulls from a wide stretch of the decade. You'll hear Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," Oasis's "Wonderwall," and Metallica's "Enter Sandman," alongside Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Under the Bridge," Radiohead's "High and Dry," and The Cranberries' "Zombie." Alanis Morissette's "Ironic," Foo Fighters' "Everlong," and Lenny Kravitz's "Fly Away" are in there too, and the night closes out with "Hallelujah" and "Tears in Heaven," associated with Jeff Buckley and Eric Clapton. It's a long list of songs that usually sound very different from one another, all stripped down to strings.
