Author talk with Anna North discussing her novel 'Bog Queen' as part of the Columbus Metropolitan Library's Authors at the Library series.
Anna North will be at the Columbus Metropolitan Library Whetstone Branch on Thursday, October 29, from 6 PM to 8 PM. She's coming in as part of the library's Authors at the Library series, and the night is centered on her novel Bog Queen.
If you haven't read it yet, Bog Queen follows Agnes, an American forensic anthropologist who gets called to investigate a strangely well-preserved Iron Age body found in a bog in northwest England. That discovery pulls her into a mystery that stretches across post-Brexit England and back to the druidic order of Celtic Europe. North will be talking through the book, so it's a good chance to hear her walk through the story and the research that went into it.
North has a fair amount of ground behind her. She wrote America Pacifica, The Life and Death of Sophie Stark, and the New York Times bestseller Outlawed, which was also a Reese's Book Club pick. When she isn't writing books, she's a senior correspondent at Vox and lives in Brooklyn. Bog Queen is her latest, and this is one of the few times you'll get to hear her talk about it in person.

The talk is part of the Authors at the Library series, which has grown from about six writers to more than 30 across the system, with more scheduled for 2027. It's a monthly program that brings readers into contact with their favorite writers and introduces them to up-and-comers; some talks are moderated, and most are accompanied by book sales and signings. The Book Loft sells books on site, so you can buy a copy there or bring one from home. You don't need a library card to attend. The event is free to the public, though registration is requested. It runs from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Whetstone Branch, 3909 N. High St.
