American Doctor screens at the Wexner Center for the Arts on Saturday, October 24, with director Poh Si Teng and participant Dr. Feroze Sidhwa attending in person. The film runs 93 minutes in English and Arabic with English subtitles, and the screening is followed by a reception. The whole thing is part of Unorthodocs, the Wexner's annual festival of creative nonfiction filmmaking now in its 10th year, and also part of the 2026 FotoFocus Biennial: The Long View.
American Doctor follows three American physicians—Palestinian, Jewish, and Zoroastrian—bound by a shared oath to save lives. Much of it was filmed on the ground in a Gazan hospital under siege, and the story follows them from the ward to the halls of Congress as they fight to keep a promise made to their Palestinian colleagues and patients: to carry the struggle home to the United States. It's the directorial debut of Poh Si Teng, who produced the Oscar-nominated St. Louis Superman and executive produced the Emmy-winning Patrice: The Movie. The film has already picked up audience awards at numerous festivals.
Having the director and one of the film's participants there in person makes it more than just a screening—it's a chance to hear about the work firsthand. The reception gives you a bit of room to talk through it afterward, too. The film is showing in the Film/Video Theater at the Wexner Center, 1871 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43210.
