Pop-up series in which visitors spend ten minutes with a museum educator to explore a single work of art, free with general admission.
10 Minutes on the Dot is back at the Columbus Museum of Art on Sunday, October 25, from 2:00 to 2:10 PM. It's a pop-up series the museum runs throughout the year, and the format is pretty simple: you get paired with a museum educator for a ten-minute deep dive into a single work of art. Instead of wandering through the galleries on your own, you spend those ten minutes focusing on one piece and talking it through with someone who knows it inside and out.
If you're not sure where to start, there's signage near the Welcome Desk that points the way to that day's featured piece. The series runs across the museum's galleries, so the work they spotlight changes from one session to the next, drawing from different collections on display. It's open to all ages, and there's no registration required—you just show up.
Because it's a pop-up, it's designed to be a quick, focused experience rather than a full afternoon. Ten minutes is just enough time to get a real look at a piece and hear the story behind it without it turning into a long lecture. If you're already planning a visit to the museum, it's an easy thing to slot into your day.
