Pink Dot presents Trevor Horn live at Tramshed, Cardiff. A night of music presented by Going Pink Dot, restricted to ages 14+.
Trevor Horn plays Tramshed on Tuesday 15 December, with the night presented by Going Pink Dot. If you're not familiar with the name, you've almost certainly spent your life listening to his work. Horn is an English record producer, songwriter, musician and singer who spent the eighties shaping the sound of the charts — so much so that he earned the nickname 'The Man Who Invented the Eighties'.
He first made his mark with The Buggles, whose 1979 hit 'Video Killed the Radio Star' became one of the most recognisable tracks of the era. From there, he moved into production, and the list of what he touched reads like a history of the decade's biggest pop and new wave sounds. He produced ABC's Lexicon of Love, Yes's 'Owner of a Lonely Heart', and the run of number-one hits from Frankie Goes to Hollywood — 'Relax', 'Two Tribes' and 'The Power of Love'. He didn't just stay behind the glass, either; he fronted Yes and Art of Noise.
The industry took notice, too. He picked up three Brit Awards for Best British Producer in 1983, 1985 and 1992, was named Rolling Stone's Producer of the Year in 1983, took Best Producer at the 1991 Q Awards and was Music Week's 2004 Producer of the Year. This is a man who spent decades in the studio building the records that defined a whole era of pop music, and here he is playing live in Cardiff.

The show runs from 7:00pm to 11:00pm, and tickets start from £1.00, which includes the booking fee. It's an over-14s night, so under-16s need to be accompanied by an adult. Tramshed is on Clare Road, and with the date falling on a Tuesday in mid-December, it's a good one to get in the diary early.
