Concert by the musical project This Is The Kit, featuring the hypnotic banjo and psychedelic rock sound of Kate Stables.
This Is The Kit play Tramshed on Tuesday 28 September 2027, with doors opening at 19:00. The night is built around the project of Kate Stables, the Paris-via-Bristol singer-songwriter who sings and plays banjo and guitar. She's the constant across the different ways the project takes shape: she performs solo, as a duo, as a psychedelic rock formation, as 4-4-2, in unplugged acoustic gigs, choir workshops, home shows and busking. The sound is driven by a hypnotic banjo twang and a voice of rare beauty, backed by a band of minimal psychedelia.
That banjo is the thing you'll notice first. It's not folk-club strumming; it's a steady, rhythmic pulse that holds the songs together while the vocals sit on top. The minimal psychedelia comes from the band around her, keeping things lean rather than filling every gap. It's a particular kind of space — enough room for the banjo to carry the melody and the voice to do the heavy lifting.
