Spirit of the Season

Spirit of the Season! is at BBC Hoddinott Hall on Monday 21 December, a family Christmas concert that brings together the Cardiff Stage Choir & Orchestra, The Music School Rhiwbina and various primary school choirs. The bill mixes traditional carols, holiday favourites and festive surprises, with the primary school choirs sharing the stage with the larger ensemble.

It's a big, multi-generational line-up. The Cardiff Stage Choir & Orchestra take the lead, joined by The Music School Rhiwbina and a selection of primary school choirs from across the city. The programme pulls from the usual Christmas songbook — traditional carols and holiday favourites — with a few festive surprises thrown in. The whole thing is billed as a family concert, and having the primary school choirs involved gives it a particular community feel.

The venue is BBC Hoddinott Hall, inside the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff. If you're coming with a wheelchair, there are four wheelchair and companion seats in Row O at the back of the orchestra hall. The performance isn't recommended for under-3s, so it's one to keep in mind if you're planning a trip with the very youngest of the family.

It starts at 7pm and runs for about two and a half hours, including an interval. That's a fair bit of music to get through, so you'll have a break to stretch your legs halfway through. With the primary school choirs on the bill, it's a family night out in the city, right in the heart of the festive season.
