A new historical epic play by Gary Owen, starring Michael Sheen and Linus Roache, exploring the story of Owain Glyndŵr and King Henry IV.
Owain & Henry opens at the Donald Gordon Theatre in the Wales Millennium Centre on 5 November, with previews running from the 5th to the 10th and the full run continuing until 28 November. It's a new historical epic by Gary Owen, the Olivier Award-winning Welsh playwright who wrote Iphigenia in Splott.
At the centre of it are two big names: Michael Sheen plays Owain Glyndŵr, and Linus Roache plays Henry IV. Sheen is also directing, alongside Steffan Donnelly of Theatr Cymru. The story goes back to 1400, when Glyndŵr, a lord of a small northern land, was declared an outlaw by King Henry IV. It's a co-production between the Wales Millennium Centre and the Welsh National Theatre, and they describe it as a production charged with poetic power that brings to life one of Wales' most defining stories.
