Orbital perform live on their The Other Tour, supporting their 2027 album Other, blending gothic folk, drum and bass, and ambient electronic sounds.
Orbital play Tramshed on Tuesday 20 April, part of their European tour for the new album Other. It's the project of Kent-born brothers Paul and Phil Hartnoll, one of the most influential names in British electronic music β they're credited with helping the sound move from underground rave culture to festival main stages, and have been billed as having succeeded Kraftwerk as the 'Kings of techno and electronica'.
Other comes out on 19 March, and the tour follows it. It's their eleventh studio album, and one of their most ambitious to date: it moves through gothic folk, drum & bass, punk and ambient alongside the electronic sounds they're known for. The record explores themes of otherness β neurodiversity, identity, outsiders and the freedom to exist beyond society's prescribed categories. The lead single, 'Mother, Maiden & Crone', draws on witchcraft and folklore, with gothic synth lines and sΓ©ance-like vocals from actor Maxine Peake.

It follows 2023's Optical Delusion, which was their first UK Album Chart Top 10 record since 1999's Middle Of Nowhere. Between that and Other, there's a good stretch of new material to hear live, so the set should lean on the recent stuff without losing sight of the older songs. The show starts at 19:00 at Tramshed, in Cardiff.
