A tribute night celebrating the 30th anniversary of Radiohead's OK Computer and the 20th anniversary of In Rainbows.
Just Radiohead are playing Tramshed in Cardiff on Friday 19 March, a tribute night built around two of Radiohead's most distinct records. The show is called Celebrating 30 Years of OK Computer / 20 Years of In Rainbows, and that's exactly what it does: it puts the two albums side by side, one from the mid-nineties and the other from the late two-thousands.
OK Computer came out in 1997, so this marks thirty years since it first landed. It's the one that shifted them from a guitar band into something more expansive, and it's the record most people think of when they think of Radiohead. In Rainbows arrived in 2007, twenty years ago, and it's a different kind of beast altogether — more stripped-back, more rhythmic, and famously released as a pay-what-you-want download. Having them both in one set lets you hear how the band changed between the two.
Just Radiohead are a tribute act, so the night is about recreating those songs rather than playing new material. They'll be working through the tracklists of both albums, so you'll get the starker, more atmospheric side of OK Computer alongside the warmer, more groove-led sound of In Rainbows. If you've spent years listening to those records on your own, this is a chance to hear them played live in the same room.
