Dutty Moonshine Big Band bring their Second Distillation tour to Tramshed on Saturday 21 November, with special guests Tankus opening the night. It's a Bristol outfit that's spent more than a decade carving its own path, blending 1930s big-band swing, jazz and blues with heavy bass, hip-hop and grime. What started as an experiment in 2015 has grown into sold-out headline tours, major festival appearances and two albums that charted in several UK charts, all while operating almost entirely outside the traditional music industry. The band's name plays on its own parody 'Moonshine' worlds, and the tour title Second Distillation takes its cue from the moonshine process itself: the second distillation takes everything learned and turns it into something stronger.
Support comes from Tankus, a deeply theatrical live act that has shared stages with the band for 15 years. The show is for ages 14 and over, with under-16s accompanied by an adult. It runs from 6:00pm to 10:00pm at Tramshed, Clare Road, Cardiff CF11 6QP, and tickets are £34.94.
