Alternative folk artist Dove Ellis from Galway makes his Cardiff debut at Tramshed as a special guest of Sŵn Festival.
Dove Ellis plays Tramshed on Saturday 17 October, his Cardiff bow. He's an alternative artist from Galway and one of the breakout names from the Irish modern folk scene, so this is his first time playing the city. He arrives fresh from opening for Geese on the US leg of their Getting Killed tour, and from the release of his debut album, Blizzard, which drew praise from Pitchfork, The Guardian and NME.
The show is part of the 19th edition of Sŵn Festival, which runs across three days from 15 to 17 October at venues around Cardiff. It's a spread, not a single site: Clwb Ifor Bach, St John's Church, Jacobs Basement, Fuel, The Canopi, Tiny Rebel, Little O'Neill's and Porter's are all in the mix. Sŵn is also part of Cardiff's wider Music City Festival, which runs over two weeks alongside Llais and the Welsh Music Prize. This year it returns in a beefed-up three-day format after the 2024 and 2025 editions, and DIY Magazine has called it a bastion of 'fearless programming'.

Ellis takes a special guest spot at Tramshed on the festival's final day, so if you're following the Sŵn line-up, this is one of the later stops. He's coming in off that US tour and the release of Blizzard, so it's a good time to catch him. The set starts at 1:00 PM on Saturday 17 October at Tramshed on Clare Road.
