Glasgow band Cowboy Hunters performs hip hop, punk rock and nu punk at the Swn Festival 2026 in Cardiff.
Cowboy Hunters play Tramshed on Thursday 15 October, the opening night of Sŵn Festival 2026. They're a Glasgow band, and their sound pulls from hip hop, punk rock and nu punk — three things that don't always sit in the same room, but here they're worked into one set.
They're part of Sŵn, which is a three-day festival running across Cardiff from 15 to 17 October. The festival takes over several venues across the city, and Cowboy Hunters are one of the acts appearing on the first day. If you're planning to do the whole thing, they're a good place to start.
As for the band themselves, they're from Glasgow and lean into a bit of a joke with their official bio: '69 years have passed since the cowboys attacked. When the world needed them most, Cowboy Hunters were in the pub. This is a story of Farty Rock redemption.' It's a farcical way of introducing a band that blends hip hop with punk, and it gives you a fair idea of the spirit they bring to the stage.

The gig is at Tramshed, on Clare Road in Cardiff (CF11 6QP), and it kicks off the festival on Thursday 15 October. Sŵn continues through Friday 16 and Saturday 17, so if you're in town for the weekend, this is the first of three days of live music.
