The Undercover Hippy plays The Portland Arms on Wednesday 21 October, with support from Foreign Locals. It's a gig promoting the single Nothing To See Here, and the night is built around the work of Billy Rowan, the man behind the name.
Rowan describes his sound as acoustic hip-hop and roots reggae, and that's a fair summary of what you'll hear. He blends acoustic guitar, soulful vocals and reggae rhythms with the lyrical delivery of a skilled MC, and the lyrics are conscious and politically driven. There's a sly sense of humour running through it, too, and he's known for bringing like-minded people together to acknowledge the darkness and celebrate life. The set will be built on upbeat, bass-soaked rhythms, and the new single Nothing To See Here sits right in the middle of that.

Foreign Locals open the night, and the main set is Rowan performing under his stage name. The Portland Arms is a 200-capacity venue on Chesterton Road, so it's a fairly small room for a mid-week gig. The music starts at 7:30pm, and tickets are £21.90, which includes the booking fee.
