Tabletop gaming holiday camp for 11-17 year olds with Dungeons and Dragons, board games and miniature building and painting.
The Adventurers' Guild is taking over the Mill Road Community Centre on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 October, a two-day tabletop gaming camp for 11-17 year olds. It's run by The Moonshine Adventure Company, and it's built for two types of people: those who've never touched a d20 in their life and those who're already deep in it and want to take things further. No prior experience is needed, so it works just as well for a complete beginner as it does for someone who's been playing at home.
The gaming is the main event. You'll get Dungeons & Dragons and other tabletop roleplaying games, alongside Blood on the Clocktower — a social deduction game where you're trying to figure out who's lying to your face — and a range of board games. There's also miniature building and painting, so you'll leave with something you can actually keep and continue working on at home. It's a mix of storytelling, strategy, and a bit of craft, rather than just one thing on repeat.
The sessions are led by experienced, DBS-checked Game Masters with backgrounds in education, including ex-History teacher Sam Lockhouse, trained teacher Lou Fryer and theatre and education professional Steph Randlesome. They're drawing on their classroom experience to keep the space safe, inclusive and welcoming, which is a good thing to know if you're sending a younger teen in for their first time. The Moonshine Adventure Company also runs tabletop RPG holidays and day events in dramatic real-world locations across the UK, and their guests have praised the immersive atmosphere and the supportive way the GMs handle the games.

It runs from 9am to 4.30pm on both days at the Mill Road Community Centre, 6 Hazel Street, CB1 2GN. You can do one day for £50 or both for £80 — lunch isn't included, so you'll need to bring a packed lunch. If you're looking for something to keep a teenager occupied over the half-term break, this is a solid shout.
