Satirical stage show by comedian Michael Spicer, with sketches, short films and stories about the current political and global situation.
Michael Spicer brings his satirical stage show Hope All's Well to Cambridge Junction on Thursday 29 October. It's a night built from sketches, short films and stories about the current political and global 'shitshow', and it pulls in characters from his Radio 4 sketch show Michael Spicer: No Room alongside interactive video sketches. One of those is a live Zoom with a self-styled racial diversity think tank of six white guys all called Tim.
If you haven't come across him, Spicer is the comedian behind The Room Next Door, the online hit where he plays an unseen, exasperated adviser coaching public figures through car-crash interviews. That one earned him a spot on The Late Late Show with James Corden, a Radio 4 pilot and a book deal. He's since written The Secret Political Adviser (2020) and created the award-winning Radio 4 sitcom Before Next Door as well as the sketch show No Room. Hope All's Well takes that same satirical eye and brings it to the stage.
Radio Times, The Guardian and the Daily Mail have called him a 'huge comedy talent', and this show is where the different threads of his work come together in one place. The sketches and short films are the main thing, with the characters from No Room appearing live and the video bits running alongside. It's a political show, so it'll be looking at the state of the world as it stands.
