A live wall of sound in which a twelve-piece orchestra of classically trained musicians reorchestrates rock anthems from Queen, Led Zeppelin, Metallica and more.
The London Symphonic Rock Orchestra play the Cambridge Corn Exchange on Sunday 15 November, bringing a brand new set of reorchestrated rock anthems to the city. It's a 100% live wall of sound, and the setlist covers a broad stretch of rock and metal: Queen, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Evanescence, Motörhead, Foo Fighters, Rage Against the Machine and System of a Down. They're not just playing the songs as they are; they're reorchestrating them, so you'll hear familiar tracks reworked for a full ensemble.
The orchestra itself is a collective of twelve classically trained artists, formed in 2018. They describe their sound as a fusion of the symphony orchestra, innovative technology and the rebellion of rock. On stage, they lean into the theatrical side of things: they dress as rock warriors and perform immersed in a candlelit fantasy forest, so the visual side of the show is as much a part of it as the music.
They're also clear about how they see their role. Rather than describing themselves as backing players, they call themselves front-line performers, soloists and showstoppers. It's a collective that's played more than 300 shows to over 400,000 fans, collaborating with acts like the Trevor Horn Band and Queen Machine, and recording for Sir Cliff Richard's Rise Up album.
