Jamie Fielding plays a three-hour extended house music set at Cambridge Junction.
Jamie Fielding is taking over Cambridge Junction on Saturday 5 December for a three-hour extended house set. It's a single-name bill, so the whole night belongs to him rather than a rotation of DJs.
Three hours is a fair stretch for one person to hold the floor. In a standard club night, you'll usually see three or four DJs slotting in for an hour or ninety minutes each, with the transitions between them acting as the night's structural markers. Here, Fielding is the only one on the decks from start to finish. That changes the shape of the evening: instead of a series of separate slots, it's one long arc, and he's the one steering it the whole way through. It's a house music set, so the focus is on the dancefloor, and the extended runtime gives him the room to build the energy slowly rather than rushing to a peak in forty-five minutes.
Having one person on for three hours also means the set can breathe. He's not working against a clock or handing over to the next act, so he can let a groove run as long as it needs to and shift the mood when the room is ready for it. It's a different way of experiencing a night outβless about the changeover and more about the single line he's drawing across the evening.
