Concert by André Reyes, founder of the Gipsy Kings, with his family project Gipsy Kings by André Reyes, keeping the band's flamenco and gypsy essence.
André Reyes brings Gipsy Kings by André Reyes to the Cambridge Corn Exchange on Thursday 5 November, with the show starting at 19:30. Reyes was one of the founders of the Gipsy Kings, the band that brought flamenco and international rumba to a global audience with hits like 'Bamboleo' and 'Djobi Djoba', and went on to sell more than 60 million records. This particular show is a family project he runs with his son and nephews, and he describes it as a way of keeping alive the band's original flamenco and gypsy essence.
Beyond the stage, Reyes has worked on a few things you might recognise from film. He contributed a version of 'Hotel California' to The Big Lebowski and 'You've Got a Friend in Me' to Toy Story 3, and he picked up a Latin Grammy for Sabor Flamenco. This show is presented by Piu Entertainment, and they've noted that latecomers may not be admitted, so it's worth getting there a bit before the start.
