Bristol big band Dutty Moonshine Big Band play their 'Second Distillation' tour with special guest Tankus in a standing-only show.
Dutty Moonshine Big Band bring their Second Distillation tour to Cambridge Junction on Saturday 24 October. It's a Bristol band, and the sound they've spent the last eleven years building is hard to pin to one genre: they blend electronic production, live instrumentation, jazz, hip hop, bass music and big-band energy. They've worked almost entirely outside the traditional music industry, and what started as an experiment in 2015 has grown into sold-out headline tours, major festival appearances and two albums that charted in multiple UK charts.
The Moonshine name comes from the parody worlds the band builds in song form, and the tour title draws on the moonshine distillation process: the second distillation takes everything learned and transforms it into something stronger. They're joined on the bill by Tankus, formerly Tankus the Henge, a deeply theatrical act that's shared stages with them for fifteen years.
