Del Amitri, known to fans as 'The Dels', play their 'Past To Present' UK tour marking four decades of songs, with support from Former Champ.
Del Amitri play the Cambridge Corn Exchange on Saturday 20 November, part of their Past To Present UK tour. It's a nationwide run they've put together to mark four decades of songs, stories and live shows, and the Cambridge date is one of them.
The Glaswegian rockers, known to fans as 'The Dels', started in 1982 as a joint venture between frontman Justin Currie and guitarist Ian Harvie. After an unsuccessful self-titled debut, they found their jangly semi-acoustic rock niche with 1993's Change Everything, which reached No.2 on the UK album charts and produced the single 'Always The Last To Know'. 1995's Twisted delivered their biggest US hit, 'Roll To Me', and in 1998 they recorded Scotland's France '98 World Cup bid song 'Don't Come Home Too Soon'.
Following a hiatus and four solo albums from Currie, the band returned in 2021 with Fatal Mistakes, their first new studio album in 18 years. The setlist for this tour runs from the late-'80s breakthrough through to that newer material, so the night pulls from across the whole span of their recording career rather than sticking to one era. Former Champ opens the bill.
