Stand-up show by comedian Celya AB, exploring how a comment from a Spanish teacher at 15 can shape our life choices.
Celya AB brings her latest show, We Must Stop Meeting Like This, to Cambridge Junction on Saturday 17 October. It's her fourth show, and it arrives here after sold-out runs across the UK, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Soho Theatre. The set is built around a single, oddly specific question: are all our life choices actually connected to a passing comment a Spanish teacher made when we were fifteen? From there, it looks at what happens when you finally break free from shame.
If you're not familiar with her, AB is an acclaimed stand-up and a writer for Saturday Night Live UK. She's appeared on Live At The Apollo, the Off Menu podcast and Comedy Central Live, and this show is described as sharply observed, slyly insightful and packed with jokes. The British Comedy Guide called it 'exceptional, not to mention impressively original'. It's a new hour of material, though she's been touring it for a while now, so it's well-worn in by the time it reaches Cambridge.

This is her fourth show, following Swimming, Second Rodeo, Of All People and Work in Progress, so it sits in a line of work rather than standing on its own. The night is for ages 16 and over. Tickets are £22.50, with a student price of £20.50. It's in J2, which is unreserved seating, so you'll want to get in early if you have a preference for where you sit. The show starts at 7:30 pm, with doors opening about half an hour before.
