Late-night underground house music night with resident DJs at Cambridge Junction.
Cambridge House Collective are back at Cambridge Junction on Saturday 12 December, their next night dedicated to the city's house music scene. It's a community dance floor, and the collective themselves are the main feature on the bill, with their resident DJs taking the helm.
They describe the night as a community dance floor dedicated to deep, soulful, jackin underground house music. If you're not entirely sure what that means in practice, it's the kind of house that keeps its focus on the groove rather than the big room drops — the deep and soulful side leaning into warmer, more melodic textures, and the jackin side bringing the syncopated, driving rhythms that keep a floor moving. It's underground house in the truest sense, the sort of thing that works as well for a long dance as it does for a casual night out.
Because it's a resident-led night, the sound is handled by the collective's own DJs rather than a touring headliner. That's the whole point of the community dance floor format: the focus is on the music and the people who come to hear it, with the residents providing the continuity. It's less about a single big name and more about the collective's shared approach to the genre.
