Stand-up show by Aidan Jones, who combines his classical piano background with comedy, playing Chopin's Nocturne in Eb Major.
Aidan Jones brings Chopin's Nocturne to Cambridge Junction on Saturday 17 October, an evening that puts his classical piano background and his stand-up on the same stage. The show is produced by Ingenious Fools Ltd, and it's recommended for ages 14 and over.
The premise is as straightforward as it sounds: Jones performs Chopin's Nocturne in Eb Major with jokes delivered between the notes. It's a combination he's been working towards for years. He grew up playing classical piano, but failed his conservatory audition at 18. After a period focused on MDMA, he started stand-up in 2011, and during the pandemic he returned to the piano, eventually bringing the two together. The show is presented by a bald, bearded Australian man who happens to be the one playing the piano.
It's a format that's been picking up speed on the fringe circuit. Chopin's Nocturne won Show of the Year at the Pegasus Comedy Award at the Edinburgh Fringe 2025 and the Adelaide Fringe Tour Ready Award 2025, and it was named Best Comedy by Adelaide Fringe Weekly. The Guardian called it 'sidesplittingly funny' and The List described it as a 'masterclass'.
