Free, drop-in family art workshops led by Let's Make Art, inspired by Joy Gregory's 'Catching Flies with Honey' exhibition.
Arnolfini is running a couple of free family workshops during the October half term, on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 October. They're led by Let's Make Art, the gallery's Creatives in Residence, and they're open to all ages, so you can bring the kids along without needing to book ahead.
The sessions take their lead from Joy Gregory's Objects of Beauty. The idea is to look at treasured and everyday objects and think about how to give them a new presence through print. You'll be working with oil pastel transfer, carbon paper and watercolour washes, layering them up to build monoprints. It's a drop-in setup, so you can just turn up and get stuck in rather than committing to a fixed slot.
Joy Gregory (b.1959, UK) graduated from Manchester Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art, and her practice has long focused on social and political issues. These workshops tie into her exhibition Catching Flies with Honey, which runs at Arnolfini from 17 October 2026 to 7 February 2027, so if you're in the gallery for the show, this is a good way to spend a bit more time with it. The workshops themselves are part of Arnolfini's wider family programme, which they run during the school holidays with activities open to all ages.
