A weekend programme of music, performance, film and discussion exploring how the arts relate to risk and warning, with live performances and a study day.
Arnolfini is hosting Scoring Warnings: Touch, Textures and Other Translations on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 November, a weekend that brings together music, performance, film and discussion around risk and warning. It's a two-part programme: a concert on Friday evening followed by a study day on Saturday, with an exhibition running alongside both.
Friday night is the live side of things, with a newly-commissioned audio work by Mark Titchner. It runs from 19:30 to 21:00, so it's a proper evening session rather than a quick drop-in. On Saturday, the focus shifts to the study day, which runs from 11:00 to 17:00. If you can't make the whole weekend, you can pick the night or the day that suits you best.
Throughout both, there's a display in the Reading Room curated by Francesca Cavallo and Irene Revell. It brings together conceptual artworks, artistic scores, protest materials and public warning systems, so you can see the physical side of the project even if you only come for one of the sessions. The whole thing asks how contemporary art can help us relate to risk and warning through touch, multisensoriality and rhythm.

The weekend comes out of the AHRC Scoring Warnings project, a collaboration between the Royal College of Art, UAL's CRiSAP, UCL's Warning Research Centre, the GNDR, Tate Modern, East Gallery, Arnolfini and Hangar Barcelona. It's a broad reach for one project, with the Royal College of Art and UCL's Warning Research Centre among the partners. The Friday concert is 19:30–21:00; the Saturday study day is 11:00–17:00.
