A free creative writing workshop for young people aged 13-18, led by award-winning playwright Tife Kusoro, as part of the Royal Court Young Playwrights Award.
Tife Kusoro is leading a playwriting workshop at Bristol Old Vic on Tuesday 27 October, part of the Royal Court Young Playwrights Award. It's a free session, and it's aimed at young people getting started with creative ideas and writing scenes for a play.
Kusoro is an award-winning playwright whose debut play, G, premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in August 2024 and won the George Devine Award for most promising new playwright. Her work has also picked up the Playwrights '73 Award and the Lynne Gagliano Writers' Award, and has been shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Poetry, the Women's Prize for Playwriting, the Verity Bargate Award, and the Alfred Fagon Award. Having her run the session means you're getting a look at how a working writer actually approaches the page.
The workshop sits inside the Royal Court Young Playwrights Award, which is a free, open-access competition for anyone aged 13 to 18 in the UK. Every entrant gets personal feedback, and the winners have their plays professionally performed in London and published by Nick Hern Books. If you've been thinking about writing something but weren't sure where to start, this is a good way to get a few scenes down and see where they go.
