A community-driven DIY multi-venue music festival featuring punk, indie and experimental sounds across independent venues in Bristol's Old Market area.
Outer Town Festival takes over Bristol's Old Market on Saturday 10 April 2027. It's a one-day, multi-venue event with over 60 bands playing across 10 stages, all within walking distance of each other. The festival hub and wristband exchange are at Trinity Centre (Trinity Rd, St Jude's, BS2 0NW), and from there you can drift between nine independent venues in the neighbourhood, including Trinity Centre, Exchange, Old Market Assembly, Stag & Hounds, Ill Repute, Elmer's Arms, To The Moon, and Wiper & True Taproom.
It's a DIY festival rooted in the Old Market and built around supporting the city's independent and grassroots venues. The programme draws on Bristol's punk, queer and indie scenes, while welcoming artists from across the UK and beyond, with a strong emphasis on discovery, experimentation and new voices. Because the stages are spread across walkable venues, you spend the day moving through the neighbourhood and seeing live music up close rather than staying in one place.
There's a bit of world-building around the music, too: the festival sets itself up as a fictional dark-age town, complete with costumed characters and a DIY market, alongside vegan food. It's designed to run in the background without taking precedence over the bands. The whole thing is 14+, so under-18s need to be accompanied by an adult, and the advertised afterparty is strictly 18+.
