Manchester multi-instrumentalist Werkha brings his kinetic blend of analogue jazz-funk and UK broken beat live, presented in collaboration with Glow Artists and featuring J Felix.
Werkha plays Alphabet on Saturday 7 November, a Brighton date presented in collaboration with Glow Artists. Werkha is the stage name of Tom Leah, a Manchester multi-instrumentalist whose live set is built around his latest LP, Unsung Irregular.
His sound sits at a crossing point between analogue jazz-funk and UK broken beat, and it's a highly textured kind of music. He layers live horns, dense synths and intricate string arrangements over tightly packed samples, so the live show brings those studio layers out into the room. He describes the resulting performances as a vibrant celebration of resilience and movement, and the set draws heavily from Unsung Irregular.
He won't be on his own for the night: J Felix is also on the bill. The whole thing is presented in collaboration with Glow Artists, and the set will be built around the new record.
