A night of deep house, disco edits and jazz funk presented by Capsule Records and TAXI, headlined by the Bristol Sound pioneer DJ Nature.
DJ Nature is playing Alphabet on Saturday 21 November, with Capsule Records and TAXI putting the night together. The set runs from 10pm to 2am, with TAXI residents warming up from 9pm, so it's a late one that carries through to the early hours.
If the name doesn't ring a bell, you'll know him better as Milo Johnson. He's a Bristol Sound pioneer and a founding member of The Wild Bunch, the legendary sound system that helped shape the UK's breakbeat and jungle scenes. His style comes from decades of underground crate-digging and the club scenes of New York and Chicago, mixing gritty, sample-heavy deep house with disco edits and jazz funk. It's a sound that sits somewhere between the dancefloor and the record shop, and it's exactly what he'll be bringing to the night.
Alphabet is the small-capacity room upstairs at the HiFi pub on Dyke Road, so it's a tight space. The downstairs bar opens much earlier in the afternoon, which makes it easy to start your evening there before heading up when the music kicks in. With the room's size, it's the kind of night that feels closer to a house party than a club, and with DJ Nature on the decks, that's probably the best way to hear it.

Tickets are £20.56, and the whole thing runs from 9pm to 2am, with TAXI taking the first hour and DJ Nature taking over from 10pm. If you're planning to make a proper night of it, the downstairs bar is open from the afternoon, so you can settle in well before the first record drops.
