A two-person monologue by Bert & Nasi, blending surreal comedy and self-awareness at the Brighton Festival.
Bertrand Lesca and Nasi Voutsas, who have been working together as the duo Bert & Nasi since 2015, are bringing their show Tonight to the Brighton Festival this May. The piece is described as a two-person monologue written by both of them, sitting somewhere between a durational text and a public collapse. It is part of the caravan assembly, a three-day event within the festival that showcases contemporary performances created in England. The performance itself uses a minimalist format to deconstruct the mechanics of a stage show, often compared to the work of David Lynch, Andy Kaufman, or Buster Keaton. It blends surreal comedy with dance and theatre, focusing on the self-awareness of the performers. Given the nature of the content, the show is recommended for those aged 15 and over. Critics have noted the humour, with mentions in the Guardian and New York Times highlighting its absurd and unconventional tone.
