A baroque dance workshop led by specialist Mary Collins, suitable for beginners with no prior experience required.
Mary Collins is leading a baroque dance workshop at The Dance Space on Sunday 27 September, and the best part is you don't need any previous dance experience to join in. It's one of those things that sounds like it might be for specialists, but it's actually open to anyone who's curious about how people danced back in the baroque era.
Collins is a renowned specialist in the field, and she's joined by Fernando Santiago Serrano dos Santos. Together they'll be guiding the session, so you're in good hands regardless of where you're starting from. The workshop is all about exploring the elegance and poise of baroque dance—the kind of thing that's usually tucked away in history books or performed on a stage, but here you're the one doing it.
One thing to keep in mind: while you don't need to have danced before, you should be comfortable taking part in a physical session. It's a workshop, not a lecture, so you'll be on your feet and moving around. If you're happy with that, the lack of experience won't hold you back.

The Dance Space is on Circus Street, and it's a proper hub for dance in the city—they run a wide range of classes, workshops and performances from the same spot. The workshop itself runs across two sessions on the day: 10:30 to 13:30 and 14:30 to 17:30. Tickets are £10 standard and £5 concession, both guide prices, and the venue is at 2 Market Square, Circus Street, BN2 9AS.
