A calm, focused writing session where attendees can work on their writing projects in a supportive environment with unlimited tea and coffee.
The Write Space is back at Ironworks Studios on Wednesday 2 September, part of a summer series that's been running on Wednesday mornings from June through August. It's a calm, focused writing session run by Ironworks, and the whole thing is built on a pretty simple premise: no workshops and no pressure, just time and space to get your writing done alongside other writers.
You bring your own laptop or notebook and work on whatever you're currently tackling—a novel, poetry, essays, scripts, or even coursework. There's no set agenda to follow and nothing you're expected to produce by the end; you just show up and put in the hours. The session runs from 11am to 1pm, so it's a two-hour window to get stuck into your project while other people are doing the same around you.
It's worth keeping in mind where this is happening. Ironworks Studios at 30 Cheapside is well known for live entertainment—drag cabaret, burlesque, and stand-up comedy, with Stephen Grant's Forge Comedy Club and the Cabaret Boheme show as regulars. They also run 'Pride at the Ironworks', an ongoing series celebrating LGBTQ+ culture and diversity. The Write Space sits at a quieter end of that programme, trading the stage and the spotlight for a few hours of focused work.

It costs ÂŁ8 per session, which includes unlimited self-service tea and coffee to keep you going. The series runs on Wednesday mornings through the summer, and there's a chance it'll be extended into autumn if it stays popular. The next one is Wednesday 2 September, 11am to 1pm, at Ironworks Studios, 30 Cheapside, BN1 4GD.
