Enjoy a step-by-step guided painting workshop in a relaxed pub setting, including all materials. Drinks are purchased separately.
If you’re looking for a creative night out that doesn't require any prior experience, you might want to check out The Paint Club. They’ve been running their step-by-step painting workshops in pubs and bars across Brighton and Hove since 2017, essentially pioneering the local 'sip and paint' scene. The whole point is to create your own piece of art in a completely relaxed, judgment-free environment, guided by a professional artist. You get to take the finished canvas home, making it a great way to spend an evening, whether you go solo or with friends.

These sessions usually run for two hours, typically starting at 7 p.m. and wrapping up by 9 p.m., making it a perfect mid-week activity for adults looking for something different. They maintain a consistent schedule, rotating between a couple of key spots in the area. You can usually find them at The Victory Inn on Duke Street (upstairs) on the first Tuesday of every month, or heading west to Portslade for the session at The Railway Inn on Boundary Road, which takes place on the fourth Tuesday of the month. They also occasionally pop up at other venues like The Seahorse and Nostos.
Getting involved costs £32 per ticket. That price covers absolutely everything you need for the painting itself—the canvas, paints, brushes, and even an apron—so you don't have to worry about bringing supplies. Since the events are held in local pubs, it’s important to remember that while the 'sip' part is encouraged, your drinks are not included in the ticket price and must be purchased separately from the bar. If you’re planning a larger gathering, The Paint Club also handles private bookings for things like hen parties or team building events, and they sometimes branch out into other creative areas, offering workshops in ceramics and linocut printing too.
