Free 18+ afternoon of stand-up comedy with new material from up-and-coming acts and professional comedians, hosted by Alicia Davison, with happy hour drinks.
The Comedy Experiment is back at Caroline of Brunswick on Saturday 24 October, one of its three monthly afternoon slots. It's a new material gig, which is a good way of saying you're seeing comedians work through their latest stuff rather than leaning on the old hits. The room brings together a real mix: newer up-and-coming acts sharing the bill with professional comedians road-testing new bits, with abilities running from complete beginners to established names. The whole thing is hosted and organised by resident MC Alicia Davison, and the afternoon is rounded off with happy hour drinks.
The headliner is always a mystery TV comedian, and the room has seen the likes of Maisie Adam and Joe Wilkinson in the past, so there's a bit of a gamble on who'll be taking the final slot. Because it's a new material night, you're getting a glimpse of the process rather than a polished set, and the mix of experience levels means the energy can shift quite a bit from one act to the next. It's a good spot if you're into the less-certain side of stand-up, where you might catch a future regular while they're still figuring things out.

It's an afternoon show, which is a nice change if you'd rather be home by tea time. It starts at 16:00 and finishes by 18:30, with doors opening at 15:40, so you're in and out in a few hours. The room is strictly 18+, so keep that in mind if you're planning on bringing anyone younger. Booking is free, and you're asked for a cash or card donation on the day to help the gig keep booking top-quality acts and cover its running costs, with £5 per person suggested as a minimum. It's at Caroline of Brunswick, 39 Ditchling Road, Brighton and Hove BN1 4SB.
