Local artist Kitty McCurdy paints live on the Victoria Terrace, bringing the Brighton seafront to life on canvas as part of The Grand's Sunday Afternoon Tea service.
Kitty McCurdy is painting live on the seafront this autumn, with three dates set for The Grand Brighton on 27 September, 11 October and 25 October. She'll be working on the Victoria Terrace, the open-air space that runs along the front of the hotel, so you can watch her paint with the Brighton seafront as her backdrop.
It's a live session rather than a finished exhibition, which is the whole point. McCurdy paints in front of you, bringing the seafront to life on canvas as she goes. You can stand and watch her work, ask her questions about her process, and see the painting take shape throughout the afternoon. It's one of those things that's better if you stick around for a bit and watch it evolve, rather than just glancing at it on your way past.
The sessions are part of The Grand's Sunday Afternoon Tea service, so if you're already there for tea, you've got a front-row seat to the painting. If not, you can still just wander over and watch. The hotel is at 97-99 Kings Road, BN1 2FW, and the painting happens on the Victoria Terrace, right out on the front.
