Story Magic

Fideri Fidera are bringing Story Magic to Komedia Studio this autumn, and it's more of a residency than a one-off. It's a children's theatre class run by the award-winning company, built around a story told through original songs, classic nursery rhymes, games and puppets. Each session lasts 40 minutes, and they're running two on the same morning — one at 10:00 and another at 11:00, with doors opening at 09:50. It's aimed at children aged 9 months to 4 years, so it's as much for the toddlers as it is for the parents.

On stage are performers Natasha and Jack. The whole thing is designed to be interactive, so your little ones will be joining in rather than just sitting and watching. The critics have been generous with it: Edinburgh Life with Kids called the lead performer 'the most gifted story-teller I've ever seen', Families Edinburgh noted that it 'captivates even the youngest of children', and Primary Times described the energy and enthusiasm as 'staggering'.

Because it's a series, you can drop in for a single session or make a habit of it. The dates run every Friday from 14 August right through to 18 December, with a few gaps in there. The full list is 14 and 21 August, 4, 18 and 25 September, 2, 9, 16 and 23 October, 6, 13, 20 and 27 November, and 4, 11 and 18 December. That's 16 Fridays in total, so there's plenty of room to fit it around your schedule.

Tickets are £7 each, with accompanying adults free, plus a 25p booking fee. Babies under 9 months are also free. You'll find it at Komedia Studio, inside Komedia at 44-47 Gardner Street, BN1 1UN.
