Story Magic

Fideri Fidera are bringing Story Magic to Komedia Studio this summer, and it's more of a run than a one-off. The award-winning children's theatre company is running a season of classes across July and August, so if you've got a little one, you can pick the date that fits your schedule rather than scrambling for a single slot.

It's designed for the very young — 9 months to 5 years — and each session runs for 40 minutes. The whole thing is built around a children's story, which Tashi and Jack, the two performers leading the class, bring to life with a mix of original songs, classic nursery rhymes, games and puppets. It's as much about movement as it is about listening, so the kids are getting up and involved rather than just sitting still.

Fideri Fidera have a bit of a reputation for this kind of thing. Story Magic has picked up some strong reviews along the way: Edinburgh Life with Kids gave it four stars and called the performer 'the most gifted story-teller I've ever seen', and Families Edinburgh gave it five, noting that it 'captivates even the youngest of children'. If you're on the younger end of that 9-month to 5-year range, that's usually the bit that matters most — whether they'll actually stay engaged.

There are six dates in total, all on Fridays: 17, 24 and 31 July, then 7, 14 and 21 August. Each day has two sessions, one at 10:00 and one at 11:00, so you can choose the one that works best with nap times.
