Live music, storytelling and sensory fun for babies under 18 months with performers from Fideri Fidera.
Fideri Fidera are bringing their Story Magic baby sessions to Komedia on Friday 16 October, and they're sticking around for a good while after that. It's a series for babies under 18 months, with Tashi and Jack from the award-winning children's theatre company leading the way. Each 35-minute episode takes a different story and builds it out with original songs, classic nursery rhymes, sensory props and puppets, so it's as much about what the little ones see and touch as what they hear.
It's not just a one-off, either. The sessions run every Friday from 16 October through to 18 December, so if you're in the city with a baby, you can make a habit of it rather than just a single trip. The room stays open until 1.30pm after the session ends, which is a thoughtful touchβit gives you time for a feed, a change and a chat with other parents without having to rush out the door the second the storytelling stops.
Tashi and Jack come from Fideri Fidera, a children's theatre company that's picked up some high praise along the way. Edinburgh Life with Kids called Tashi 'the most gifted story-teller I've ever seen', and Families Edinburgh noted they 'captivate even the youngest of children'. The sessions are part of Komedia's wider children's programming, run by Komedia Productions, whose stated aim is to enable children, young people and the wider Brighton & Hove community to engage with the arts, to work with those who find it harder to access such opportunities and to support local emerging artists at affordable prices.
